Drug take-back program in Twisp
The Town of Twisp has installed a drug “take-back” slot next to the front door of the police department office, according to Chief of Police Paul Budrow.
People may bring unused or expired prescription or over-the-counter drugs, including syringes and needles, to the Twisp police department at 118 S. Glover St., seven days a week, “24/7,” Budrow said. Drugs are to be sealed in a provided Hazardous Materials bag and then dropped through the slot.
A video camera records activities at the door, “which only I will see,” but otherwise the drug take-back program is completely anonymous, Budrow said.
The object of the program is twofold: to prevent drug theft from people’s homes, and to keep potentially hazardous chemicals out of landfills and water systems.
For more information call the Twisp police department at 997-6112.
