The Liberty Bell High School football team executed a well-balanced offensive attack combined with an effective defense to hold the Lake Roosevelt Raiders scoreless, 45-0, last Friday (Oct. 25).

The Mountain Lions uncaged a running and passing strategy that racked up 267 yards on the ground and 142 through the air and divided the team’s six touchdowns among five players.

Quarterback Chip Jones carried the ball for one touchdown and passed for two more. Jacob McMillan and Chase Kurtz were the receivers on the other end of the TD throws. McMillan, Emmett Fink and Milo Holston also carried the ball for a rushing TD apiece.

Special teams kicker Jorge Lara was a perfect six-for-six in extra points.

“The game went well,” said coach Sy Bannick. “We started off a bit slow, but once we got going we were able to control the game on offense and defense.”

Liberty Bell will host Kittitas at 7 p.m. Friday (Nov. 1) for its final home game of the season. The Coyotes and Mountain Lions share matching 3-1 records.

“Kittitas can both run and pass and have been having a good season,” Bannick said. “We expect them to be a tough team and for this game to go down to the wire.”
