Fodor’s honors Sun Mountain Lodge
Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop has been named one of the top 100 hotels in the world by Fodor’s. Each year the travel guide publishing company picks its Fodor’s 100 Hotel Award winners based on nominations from among more than 4,000 hotels worldwide.
The award recognizes “high style, excellent service and a one-of-a-kind stay for guests,” according to a press release from Sun Mountain.
Brian Charlton, general manager of Sun Mountain Lodge, said “We are deeply honored that Fodor’s Travel, the gold standard in the hospitality industry, has recognized Sun Mountain Lodge for this coveted award. We wish to thank all of those – from prep cook to housekeeper – who have contributed to making Sun Mountain Lodge the special place that it is.”
Twisp chamber meets early
The monthly membership meeting of the Twisp Chamber of Commerce will be Thursday (Oct. 24) at 7 a.m., at Confluence Gallery on Glover Street. There will be a roundtable discussion about the coming holiday season. Cost is $6. Call 997-8862 for more information.
Rural economies conference slated
Chambers of commerce, entrepreneurs, government officials and economic development leaders from across the state are invited to participate in an interactive forum with Becky McCray, a national expert in entrepreneurship, on Nov. 15.
The Rural Pathways to Prosperity Conference is designed to help rural communities identify ways to build their local economy by creating a place for businesses to thrive. McCray will deliver a keynote presentation via webinar. After her presentation, each site will turn their attention to the issues, resources and project ideas for the local community.
The conference will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at locations throughout the state. In Okanogan County, it will be at Havillah Road Printing and Business Center, 208 S. Main St. in Omak.
