Luvon to host meditation class
Local author and teacher Blake Luvon will host a four-session class on Thursday evenings, beginning Oct. 3, about incorporating meditation throughout daily life.
The class will discuss the teachings of Luvon’s new book, This is Not a Book. Classes will focus on being, Buddhism, meditation and mindfulness.
The course, titled “Breaking ‘Normal’: Living a Life of Constant Meditation,” will be held in the Methow Valley Wellness Center in Winthrop from 6:30-8 p.m. There is no charge, but donations are appreciated to help cover costs. A free Firewise workshop on how to reduce the risks to homes from wildfires will be offered Saturday (Sept. 28) from 10 a.m.-noon at the Winthrop Fire Station. There will be refreshments and door prizes, and an optional visit to a Firewise demonstration site from noon-2 p.m. For more information, call (509) 422-0855, ext. 100.
Home schooling talk
A representative from A Beka Academy will be at Cascade Bible Church in Twisp on Saturday (Sept. 28) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to talk about virtual home schooling and home schooling products available from the academy. There is no cost for the event. The church is at 1119 Highway 20.
