Last Saturday morning was the start of the Winter Sale. It was a nice cool start for the day, which made people think about warm coats and winter toys. The sale will run for several weeks, with another sidewalk sale this Saturday. You can shop in the sale room on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

If you are still doing fall cleaning and have some nice outgrown or unwanted winter clothes, we will gladly take them. We have or have had heaters, blankets, boots, socks, hats and mittens, coats, sweaters, snow suits and warm pajamas.

Happy birthday to Howard Brewer, who turned 91. And congratulations to Gil and Donna Dahlquist on their first anniversary.

We also have a nice electric wheelchair and a runabout if anyone should need to use them.

If you read last week’s newspaper you may have seen the article about funding for the senior programs. We are sharing part of the letter we received from Okanogan County Transportation & Nutrition (OCTN), which has asked each senior center in the county to come up with $1,000 to help fund senior programs through the end of 2013. OCTN is experiencing a shortfall of money due to rising costs and donations being down. The Methow Valley Senior Center board will take up this issue at its next meeting.

If you wish to help out, you can donate using the white “donations” box at the center. Checks can be made payable to Methow Valley Senior Center marked for “OCTN.”
