Meet the Merc’s new artistic director

Ki Gottberg, The Merc Playhouse’s new artistic director, will meet the public to talk about all things related to the theater in a series of meetings this week.

Sessions on Thursday and Friday (Sept. 5 and 6) are for adults and will be from 6-8 p.m. at the theater in Twisp. Students aged 13 or older are invited to a session on Sunday (Sept. 8) from 2-4 p.m.

Gottberg will talk about possibilities for future shows with potential actors, directors, costumers, set builders, painters, stage managers, those interested in lighting, sound, props, set dressing, and more.

Poetry and music at Spartan Art

The Spartan Art Project hosts “Intimate Performances,” a two-act evening featuring a reading of original poetry by Patrick McGann, followed by Tara Weaver performing solo Bach on the violin, at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 at TwispWorks.

Attendees will be asked to pay as they are inspired in a pass-the-hat format. Food and drink will be available by donation. For more information call 997-1022.


Fabric sale at TwispWorks

Culler Studio at TwispWorks will hold a textile sale and fundraiser, “Once Loved,” on Sept. 21 from 4-8 p.m. Sale proceeds will support the development of a botanical dye garden on the TwispWorks campus. Included will be a wide range of exotic and vintage fabrics for sale. There will also be food, drink and music.

Readers’ Theater production

The Merc Playhouse in Twisp will present a Readers’ Theater production of Memory House, a play by Kay Tolan, on Sep. 20 and 21 beginning at 7 p.m. each day. The production will be directed by Ki Gottberg, the Merc’s new artistic director, with a staged reading featuring Bo Thrasher and Morgan Tate.
