As we announced earlier, the newsstand price of the Methow Valley News will increase to $1 beginning with this issue. The new price, which reflects our growing costs, is consistent with many other weekly newspapers in the state.

Many of the people who stop by the News office on Wednesday or Thursday to buy the paper have already commented that it will easier for them to leave $1 than to make change in the little can on the counter. We appreciate their support, and the support of every one of you who hands over a buck for the paper henceforth.

At the same time, our subscription costs for mail delivery will increase from $30 to $33 for a one-year subscription in Okanogan County; from $40 to $44 for a one-year subscription outside of the county and within Washington state; and from $50 to $55 for a one-year subscription outside of the state.
