Fly-in dinner, breakfast in Twisp
The annual Fly-Dinner at the Twisp Airport, open to the public, will be on July 12 from 5:30-8 p.m. Sirloin steak and all the trimmings plus dessert and beverages will be served. No-host wine and beer will be available. Cost is $15.
The event, coordinated by the Twisp Airport Pilots Assocition, is a fundraiser for the Twisp Valley Grange.
The annual Fly-In Pancake Breakfast will be the next day, July 13, from 7-11 a.m. at the airport. Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for kids ages 5-12, or $25 for an entire family. For more information call (435) 640-1725.
About slow food
Slow Food Okanogan and Larkhaven Farmstead Cheeses will host an evening of wine and cheese and slow food information at Esther Bricques Winery and Vineyard in Oroville on July 14 from 5-8 p.m. Music will also be provided at the free event. For more information call (509) 486-1199.
Positive discipline course still open
There is still space for parents to enroll in a six-week Positive Discipline course offered by Room One on Tuesdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Methow Valley Elementary School.
The course focuses on developing family relationships based on mutual respect; disciplining with kindness and firmness; encouraging personal responsibility; and strengthening children’s problem solving skills.
Instructors are Kim Claussen, a teacher at Little Star Montessori School, and Sarah Longino-DeKalb, outreach coordinator at Room One.
The course began July 2 and continues through Aug. 13. Instructors said parents are welcome to join in the second week. Enrollment is offered on a sliding scale. To enroll call Room One, 997-2050.
